I have two 12 pound 1-year old cats, and I bought this thinking one would sleep on top and one would sleep in the basket. Of course they tussle over who gets the top and neither uses the basket at all. Only once I've seen them sleeping on the top together, so it will fit both. I took away one star because the tree is not as sturdy as I hoped. It's well made and was easy to assemble, but it sways a bit since everything is balanced on the single tree trunk, despite tightening as much as we could. I put a small plastic bin full of landscape rocks on the base to counterbalance so it doesn't sway too far or tip over when a cat leaps onto it. The mid range height is perfect for placement behind our sofa, so it doesn't block the view of the TV from the kitchen. The top level is very soft and both cats love to stretch out and sleep there. I did not attach the large fluffy ball, because it contains a rather annoying rattle. Overall this is nice, but definitely for 1-2 cats that aren't too big. I think the listing said 3 cats up to 22 pounds each, but that doesn't seem realistic in my opinion. It's a good looking cat tree that blends into the decor better than some others.. Katie. The reason i gave it 4 stars because IT IS NOT CHOCOLATE BROWN as pictured which is what I wanted. It is a med beige tan, see photo. Disappointing but I am keeping it and my two cats love it. I LOVE this cat tree and actually own 2 of them now. However, they both have a propensity to tip over so I bought landscaping blocks to set on the base to prevent that. It looks tacky but it does the trick. I've owned a lot of cat trees over the years and have learned what my fellas really like are enclosed perches where they can curl up and not worry about falling off. This one has plenty big circular beds at multiple levels which are easy to get up and down from. Even my old guy can get to the top. A lot of times cat trees aren't designed for function like that. This one is. Mine arrived with part of it hanging out of the very large box but thankfully it wasn't damaged. You DO need to screw in the top perch with the 4 screws provided. It was a little challenging lining it up exactly centered but I finally got it after measuring and moving it back and forth multiple times. Build was fairly easy, I do wish the screws had been labeled by type because that was a little confusing. Otherwise my cats really love this tree, I am a little worried that it’s not the sturdiest. The cat tree was to simple to put together because the instructions were well written. I only took an hour and the tools were included. No missing parts and went together well. This cat tower is awesome. I was looking forward to putting this together but the husband beat me to it. It only took him a hours. This included a couple redos because, as others mentioned, the picture instructions are not straight forward. He also used better tools than the wrench it comes with. I thought it was nearly perfect in the design but I think one of the attributes is not ideal. The hammock in the middle is kinda low to the platform below it, making it kinda difficult for the cat the get from the platform to the left of the hammock to the next one, slightly higher on the right. I wish the hammock was a board or higher up. Other than that, it’s really good. My friend and me built it in under an hour. I got it because it’s just about 18” below the tops of my kitchen cabinets. So she can climb the tower then traverse the cabinet tops. I have been thinking about removing the hammock and replacing it with a board. We shall see.
