Because they are going on a second floor ceiling, which is vaulted and might be 24 feet high. We have to have our electricians come out to install these. These look better than the average thin wafer lights we install. I thought when I ordered them they would change colors, but my electrician said they don't. I like that you can flip the inner circle up and direct the light where you want it. They look substantial without taking a lot of space in the ceiling to install. I would definitely buy them again.. Fantastic hi-hat ceiling lights. Four came in one box. For the installation I did need an electrician as it needed to be hard-wired.
