The box is larger than our old which was plastic. So far it has deterred a bear from opening the metal lid. A bear opened our plastic bin and pulled out a small metal barrel holding bird seed. It took us about three to four hours over the course of two afternoons. I recommend two people during assembly. Once assembled the bin seems very sturdy. This box just arrived. I put it together, in all of 5 minutes! Now, Im not storing the crown jewels in here (though it can be locked). But, it is PERFECT for my birdseed and such.
