Your cat will never want to be inside again once they experience this creative and spacious cat run. The partially enclosed house portion provides your furry friend with shelter and privacy when they feel like napping. Extended out to the side and below is a full-height run area with three climbing platforms to keep your cat entertained for hours. The main doors on either side of the run are fully locked and allow for easy access anywhere inside. The entire structure is made from quality Canadian hemlock, and all the necessary hardware is included.
This has been a bit of an adventure, but the bottom line is I love this item. I ordered it then canceled after speaking to two different Wayfair Customer Service folks who said it could not be modified. I decided I would just build one custom for my window. But then Wayfair sent it anyway, a week after I canceled it. So at that point, I had nothing to lose.
It is very easy to modify this item if you can use a drill, screwdriver, and pliers (or any tool to cut some small pegs). I understand that the item is made to fit together with pre-drilled holes and pegs, as well as pre-drilled holes and screws. But anyone who has ever used a drill can easily modify this.
For those who don't want to modify it, it goes together beautifully. As others have said, perfectly square and aligned and very easy to construct.
As you can see, I wanted the closed-in section on the bottom, so the litter box could be behind it. I also wanted the small platforms all on one side and wanted a second large platform, again, designed to create maximum privacy around the litter box for my overly-sensitive formerly feral momma cat.
My modifications allow me to easily scoop the litter box daily through the small solid door. And to empty, clean, and change the litter box, I open the larger door in the middle section, remove the second large platform that I built and added to this, and lift the litter box out the large door. It works beautifully!
I also changed the latches so I could add simple tiny locks to each door. I would not be able to relax, wondering if someone had left a door open outside.
And finally, I added simple gate hooks to attach it to my window, so I can move it anywhere on my deck (though I'll need to make some kind of cover for the back opening that we cut in the mesh for window access). This will also let me do a thorough cleaning. This also allowed for use with zero alterations to my window or home.
Our girls love it! They especially love going out at night when the porch light is on as it brings June bugs right there for them to catch and snack on. They think it's their place for flying snacks. And they use the litter box more than the one I have in the house. I plan to eliminate the indoor box whenever the weather is good (we're in rainy season right now, so not yet). I live in the mountains of northern Arizona, so most of the year the girls will enjoy outdoor time.
Honestly, I would have preferred to custom build one that fits the window perfectly and even has a high catwalk under the eaves. But this is a good one and well constructed. Enjoy.. Joanie. Prescott, AZ. Fri Apr 04 2025
