I spent quite some time looking to purchase an aquarium stand or cabinet for a very special custom built aquarium that I inherited from a friend. Many styles and quite the range of prices- into the thousands ! Nothing quite hit the marks either in style or design or weight capacity until I found this one. It’s heavy and will take you some time to assemble.They recommend 2 people- which I don’t have - however, I managed to move the heavy box- I estimate 100 pounds- inside by myself. The directions were long - over 10 pages- but were actually very organized and understandable- shocking!! Working alone and meticulously I was able to complete the assembly - assembly took me roughly 6 hours - building at a leisurely pace- making sure to follow the steps exactly. The stand is a beast - it’s over built with metal supports and legs- overkill amount of bolts holding it together and solid panels framing it all. Rating it at a 1500lb capacity is probably accurate. I bought this stand for a new 40-gallon tank that I am setting up. This aquarium stand was shipped and delivered on time with no damage. Assembling it was a bit of a challenge because the top was slightly bowed. It took a rubber mallet and 200lbs of weight to get it lined up so I could screw it down. The openings in the back panel aren't really useful for my purposes. The designers only considered tanks with hang off back (HOB) filters. If you are using a canister filter that resides in the cabinet below the tank, you will either have to leave the back panel off or get creative with a saw. I got creative with a saw and cut a hole in the back big enough to easily accommodate the filter's output/return hoses and provide easy access for maintenance. This stand seems sturdy enough to support the 450lb+ weight of a filled 40-gal tank. It's not what I'd call high quality or high-end decorator, but so far it suits my tastes just fine.. Nicole. I’m 72 and put this together myself. The instructions didn’t always match the picture guide, but I did get it together. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is from the very first screws I inserted there was some of the cabinet that flaked up. But once the screw was in place it wasn’t noticeable. It seems very sturdy. I have cement floors and had to add sliding pads to make it level. The back metal poles have a place to screw something in but nothing was included? I purchased an oversized stand for my 40 gallon tank and decided on getting one for the 55-75 gallon tank size. Mainly for stability but also just like the way it looks. I have the barn style TV stand and end table. So it matches the rest of my furniture. Deffinetly glad I bought this tank stand. It is currently holding my 40 gallon feeder aquarium and fits perfectly. It was fairly simple to put together, although there were a couple small screws that were a little difficult to screw in with the tool they gave in the package.
