Touch controls are reasonably sensitive and respond without unwanted changes. Unfortunately the outside of the ceramic insert arrived scratched, the packaging was sufficient so I can only assume it occurred before it was boxed up. Does not affect functionality but took away from the sense of newness for the appliance. I did read the instructions and found it completely unreasonable that the insert is listed as top rack dishwasher safe. Although the main crock pot seems a bit bulky and heavy, it did not disappoint. The beans turned out flavorful and surprisingly tender, and I enjoyed setting and forgetting it as I went about my day. The smaller party dipper was actually great for warming and maintaining the stew. I know it is primarily designed to keep foods warm, but I decided to test it for reheating as well, and it worked nicely.
