This stool has been perfect for that. The stool comes with leg extenders, without it, it's the height for a low breakfast counter. But adding the extenders bring it up to barstool height. Im 5'4 and I can just barely lean my butt on it with my feet still on the floor. If I want to sit, I have to use the foot rest to step up to the seat. The stool is very sturdy. The base is wider than the seat and it feels extremely stable. I don't watch my balance or feel like I need to be careful when I'm hopping up or when I'm adjusting myself. And the whole thing is much bigger than expected. The seat is extra wide, the legs and foot rest are also wide and sturdy. The seat itself is a very padded pleather. I am quite happy with these adjustable bar stools. They arrived with each piece well wrapped and protected. They were very easy to assemble in under 5 minutes per chair. They appear to be sturdy. The hydraulics have worked well too. It is easy enough to raise the chair height but you should be sitting on it to lower it (your body weight will be helpful against the strong upward push of the hydraulics). My seats adjust from a minimum height of 24 inches up to a maximum height of 33 inches above floor level. The cushions are thick and supportive and quite comfortable. I wish the length of the seat were a little longer but still fine as is. It is very sturdy while sitting with no rocking motion, no squeaks and very easy to twist around in a full circle if desired. The red is a bright red with some orange undertone very much like the stock photo. Also see my photos for an idea of the color. I can't speak to the longevity of them since they are new to me.. Grkl. This is a great barstool - it feels very high end with the real wood legs, the firm seating, the tufted fabric. I love that it swivels and the legs can be adjusted to go higher or lower depending on your counter. The reason for the four stars is because this piece comes in two separate boxes. We were sent only one box (the seat part) and it took almost two months of phone calls, parts ordering, emails, etc only to be sent ANOTHER seat. We finally got the legs, but it was quite the hassle.
