I was looking for an extra bed without the commitment of a full-time bedroom, and this Murphy bed fit the bill. It took about 2.5 hours to put together by myself. I referenced the assembly youtube to help get the actual visual process along the way. There were reviews about the mattress not being super comfortable (I would agree- functional, not what I would offer to a guest), so I purchased a memory topper for when it's being used. It is easy to transform to a bed. I did also make sure I had a rug to put under it, as someone commented that the one frame piece is not connected to the rest of the frame when in bed form and might move around. This furniture…. My gosh, took two people 9 hours to build. The wood is VERY fragile- cracks very easily. One of the drawers had the track on backwards- weve removed and installed it correctly. The pictures are very hard to follow. Anticipate spending an entire day building it. We got the white model- some of the wood has scratch marks- i need to see if it can be cleaned with a magic eraser or something, i dont anticipate this unit lasting more than a year or two unfortunately. This is a very nice Murphy bed. The pictures in the instruction were not always clear which made it difficult to be sure that I was putting it together correctly. There were a great number of places where there were no pre-drilled holes for the screws that were indicated in the instructions even though the instructions showed those holes. This bed took the better part of a day to put together with help, partly because of the constant second guessing because what the instructions showed did not match the reality. I started out pre-drilling the missing holes but ultimately pre-drilling was not needed. The screws that came with the bed were able to screw in without pre-drilling and with no issue of splitting or damage to the bed. This bed is very solid and I am very happy with the final product. Please note that the base does not have slats. The only other issue is a plastic strip that is supposed to go between the two sections of the back did not go on as all the parts are too flexible and it would not go on so I left it off. The back of the bed is the weakest part of the bed. My bed has a solid wood base. I purchased a 6” foam mattress that fits perfectly folded in the storage area of the bed. I have been searching for a fully assembled murphy cabinet bed for a long time, and after months of consideration, I decided to splurge and purchase this model! I wanted something that would be easy to open and close on a daily basis, that you’d be able to leave the sheets / comforter on when closed (this eliminated tons of other options because most Murphy cabinets have 3-section mattresses, meaning the sheets need to be taken off every time.) I just received this product today, and Wayfair delivered the insanely heavy box right into the room for me for free!! Mattress is very firm so you may want to get a thin mattress topper for it. Edit: (1 week update) The bed and mattress emitted very strong odors that gave me headaches and a sore throat symptoms for days. It says it is CA Phase 2 compliant for formaldehyde, so just be careful and make sure to let the product air out (off gas) in the garage for a few days before sleeping on it.
