This actually feels very sturdy and was easy to put together. My 12 yo daughter helped me carry it up the stairs and put it together. It was her first time touching a screw driver and a good breeze could knock her over. So it really wasn’t difficult at all. We got this for our guest bedroom for when the grandparents come visit now that we have the space. I’m pretty sure this is actually solid wood. I definitely recommend this. Very nice bedframe. I needed a bed with a shorter headboard to accommodate the window in my bedroom. This bed works great and seems very sturdy. My only complaint is that the pre-drilled holes to attach the brackets on the headboard and footboard aren't nearly large enough so I had to go in and drill them a little wider.
