The bookshelf is really nice, my only complaint is that the back panels dont fit together well. It comes with a plastic strip that goes in between, but the color is way off and it doesn't look good at all. I’ve been looking for storage options for a while, mostly for books but having the option for other things as well, and a dresser was too bulky while a book case was too narrow and tall. This is perfect. It’s well made and looks great. The back is pressed board with a wood laminate and there is definitely an order to install the back panels. There are no pre-drilled holes for the back panels, and while I did it through sheer willpower and determination, a power screwdriver would be helpful. This is a fantastic book shelf. Solid, heavy wood construction and a beautiful finish. A few spots have mars in the finish, but they disappear when looking at the shelf from across the room. There were a few scratches that a furniture stick needed to be applied to, but I’m not sure if they happened during manufacture or our construction. The assembly was simple with the instructions provided. The only error in the instructions was regarding the type of screw driver to use. The wall anchor that came with the shelf was very flimsy, so we installed a sturdier more trusting anchor. The shelving unit did have a odor for a week after assembly. I didn’t like the color of the screw caps that were supplied so I have not used them; additionally they didn’t fit firmly in place. The bottom drawers slide in and out smoothly. The ClosetMaid 13” storage bins I bought to use with the shelf were too wide for each opening. When I trimmed a quarter inch of the insert in the bottom of the bin, I could get the bin to snugly fit in the shelf openings. I won’t be accessing what I stored in the bins often, so I’m happy with the ClosetMaid storage bins. I am well pleased with the storage capacity and look of this shelving unit. It looks modern, is designed well, and most important is made from real wood. After an extensive search for a new bookcase we finally settled on this one and I’m happy to report that we are very pleased with it! We needed a shelving unit that would compliment our mid century style home and it needed to fit into the corner of our living room. Not only is it the perfect fit but it truly brings the room together! My husband and I were also impressed with the quality of the materials and craftsmanship. It’s a nice solid piece of furniture and it was pretty easy to put together by 1 person. Our only complaints are a small chip on a shelf and the difficulty of removing a warning sticker that should have been placed on the back of the unit and not in the front. ( I’m sure it will come off easy after spraying it with vinegar or water and letting it sit for a few minutes) Overall we are satisfied with our purchase and would recommend to others.. Pmichel77. Nice piece that looks beautiful in my space. The assembly was incredibly difficult though and many holes did not fully align, screws were too short to fit in place using a lock nut, etc. Hihly recommend buying professional install as very frustrating process to end up with a slightly crooked shelf and several screws not able to be screwed in.
