- First impression once assembled, looks just like the model online. However, the wood top had 2 damaged areas 1 a scratchgouge, another that had a stain that someone tried to color in and varnish over. We had put so much work that when we noticed it, we were an hour in and didnt want to have to wait for a new one. - Assembly with two people, it took about 2 12 hours to assemble. It was a pretty simple process, but they were just a lot of pieces. There were two times that the instructions were unclear in terms of the direction certain pieces had to go in, and in other areas it seemed like the steps could have been done in a better way. But overall it was simple but tedious. Instructions would earn a 94 out of 100. Finished we are very happy with the entries result. It goes really well with our other furniture and the sage green color is really pretty. I like the extra space with the flip top wood on top, but part of me wishes that the extra piece was on the other side. Also, since we use this for a space between our kitchen and dining room, the paper towel holder seems a little out of place. If it was just for the kitchen it would make sense. But thats a personal preference. The drawers are nice and deep, and the shelves are movable so that you can adjust them to various heights if your needs change. Overall we are very happy and glad that we saved the assembly fee. The reasons for not giving a five star two gouges on the wood top, and a few areas of the instructions had to be figured out. I could not be more pleased with this purchase. I recently moved into a rental that has an awkward layout for cooking and this solves the problem beautifully. The leaf is just perfect, allowing more space for food prep but with the option to stow it away to keep the walkway open. From the time I opened the box, including organizing and verifying all the parts, it took 3.5 hours to assemble, plus another 20-30 min for final adjustments, removing stickers, and disposing all the packaging. One of the hardware packets was mislabeled. The instructions were mostly clear with a couple confusing spots. At the end one of the drawers wouldn't slide in all the way so I had to adjust the sliders to a different hole than instructed. I didn't need (or like) the bulky spice rack so I filled the holes with nail hole filler. As other reviewers have commented, it is definitely a tip hazard with the leaf open when the cabinets are empty, but once I put heavier stuff inside the whole thing stabilized. I agree the back side (leaf side) of the unit would look nicer with a more finished appearance but it doesn't bother me since it faces away from the entrance. Luckily the delivery person delivered the box right to my door where I could drag it inside - I'm a petite woman and it weighs 100 lbs, so I wouldn't have been able to get it inside otherwise. I was a little skeptical because this Kitchen Island was fairly inexpensive. I opted to pay to have it assembled and that was done today. I love it. It has as much space as i hoped since it was only 43" long and the cabinets and drawers are ample size to hold a lot of kitchen items. This is so much more useful than the table and chairs for two that I had there before. The Island is sturdy, attractive and versatile. The stools are very comfortable. My only complaint is that before ordering I called Wayfair customer service to find out if I could purchase the item but delay delivery. The person i spoke to assured me that as soon as I had a tracking number I could contact Fed Ex and reschedule. I got the tracking number too late to stop the delivery which came in two days instead of three as noted on the order. Most people would not complain about this but I had a flight the day of delivery; luckily it arrived before I had to leave for the airport. This has been a fabulous addition to our kitchen. Assembly was long, but straightforward. We did have an issue with the handle on the trash tilt-out thing.
