This is considered an all-season duvet insert that can be used as an insert or alone as a comforter, which I can confirm! This reminds me of a nice hotel comforter that you could snuggle under when you have the ac turned up cold!! It has loops on each corner to attach to the inside of a duvet cover AND extra loops on the top and bottom, which I REALLY appreciate — especially on a California King!!! It’s particularly a great summer duvet insert however, if you live in a very cold region you may need a bit more substance than this. Individually sewn squares keep the filling in its own section, and this is a necessity in my opinion. I feel it could have a little more padding in the individual squares, but it’s better than some I’ve seen and I do feel this is a good duvet insert for the cost. Holy sweet jebus Batman that down comforter just expanded more than I thought it could, literally 3 times the thickness of my current one which is down as well.
