I'll preface this by saying "I fully expect these to be trashed within a few years, as I have a busy kitchen and a three year old". I purchased a less expensive version, fully expecting to have to replace when the kids are older. Edit 2/13/2026. We've now had these just under 6 years. While I started my first review with an expectation of these being absolutely trashed in a couple years, I am thrilled to report that I was wrong. They're holding up great to a now 8 and 4 year olds daily meals. The kids also like to use these stools as stepladders to get cereal, bread, etc out of the upper cabinets. I love these stools. When we were remodeling our kitchen we designed an island with hidden seating and I wanted a counter stool with a low back that could slide completely under the island. I found these and they are so lovely in person. The leather and gold is pretty and the leather has a weathered look which I like because my kids eat at the counter and get them messy. I really liked these barstools. Husband liked the ones he picked out best and he won, so I returned these. The swivel was smooth and the back rest supportive. I (female in my 50s) put them together on my own and it was pretty easy. They looked great and felt solid. They may be a little small for larger people, like over 300 lbs.
