I am pleased with the cages, I bought 2 of them. 1st & most importantly, they are iron, with a textured beige finish. This is important if you plan on using these for years & years like I do. They are easier to clean, and stand up to a steam cleaning which is how I clean the grates and pan. The pan is also made of metal not plastic and is big, with hefty sides that contain the seed hulls, feathers, and droppings so that if you change paper regularly, you are able to fold up all of the garbage without it spilling onto the floor. The dimensions are large enough so that small birds such as canaries, finches, parrotlets, parakeets, budgies etc. can have plenty of room to actually fly, and get their exercise, which all birds should be able to do. If your bird cannot do this, I strongly suggest you look into a cage of this size, and take note of the dimensions. These dimensions are ideal. Really the minimum that any small bird should have. Larger birds, need a much larger aviary. Cages were easy enough to set up, just take note of the directions which are very brief, and make sure that you complete one side, and add on the other side AFTER everything is connected, otherwise you will never be able to connect the middle parts, you would have to unscrew everything and start again! Overall set up is E-Z. To the people at Prevue Hendryx & Wayfair, a few suggestions: There should be a clip to secure the bottom grate where you pull it out for cleaning. If you put anything heavy on the bottom of the cage, such as a ceramic water dish (like I did) the grate sags, to the point where small birds could easily escape. Luckily none did, but beware of this. I had my sliding glass doors open when I noticed some of them peering at the open gape. I quickly closed the doors and removed the water dish. Probably a small bungie cord can fix the problem. Also, the food troughs that come with the cage are great, but would be even better with hoods, to stop unwanted droppings from above fouling their food. ALSO a flat top model of this cage would be superb, similar to your smaller black model. These are minor suggestions, but would be nice. Overall I am one satisfied loyal Prevue Hendryx customer."..."  Read more

This cage is very, very nice for its price. Compared to everything else I looked for it is simply the best for its price bracket. Similar priced cage were about half the size, and had more spacing between the bars (a bad thing for me since I purchased the cage for my cockatiels and 1 inch gaps are more or less unsafe for the birds, inconvenient to place pet toys in, and much harder for the birds to get around.) In contrast the spacing between the bars was very nice for this cage, and the number of horizontal bars was an additional plus (on of my peeves with most cages is that they lack horizontal bars which make it harder to attach bird toys and harder for the bird to get around. The cage was also very easy to assemble (took I'd say less than fifteen minutes for two people.) The only thing I could hold over as a con for this cage is how the 6 small side doors are kept shut, they are kept shut with springs which are slightly fragile (though this is minor since a twist tie can replace a broken spring.)"..."  Read more

I've noticed several buyers complaining about the bottom drawer on the Silverado bird cage pulling out from the back? If you have to pull your bottom drawer out from the back then you have assembled the cage incorrectly, I know because I did it wrong the first try myself. The bottom side panels need to be reversed so that the side rail end-stops face to the back of the cage bottom. Our cage did have a wire that missed an end weld but the manufacturer sent me a whole new top piece to replace the defect all the way to Hawaii, free! Great cage for the money and my Macaw likes it so well that she now puts up a fuss when we move her from the Silverado cage to her outside avairy each morning! Also there are two welded loops directly under the door latch just for a padlock to keep the door very secure and the bird in the cage."..."  Read more

This cage was NOT pruchased for birds but Rodents! We have two adult male Chinchillas who needed more space with room to JUMP. This cage is perfect. The cage arrived quickly. It was heavy[...]driver and me (the received) as the package (a single box) weighed 94lbs. It was (fairly) easy for myself and my husband to assemble. Though I am very glad we built it in the room we expected to use it as it would not have fit through a standard door frame. The only negative is the wheels do not have locks so the cage moves very easily."..."  Read more
