For years, I had been using a pile of dog beds to stuff down onto the seat of my Miata for my copilot to be safe, comfortable and have a better view. I used the pile of dog beds in the bucket seat for my Siberian Gidgit, who went to the Rainbow Bridge in June. While looking for something better for the new baby, Angel, another Siberian, I simply had to try it. First, it was going to be less expensive to do it this way than but the pile of dog beds. Secondly, it was MUCH firmer than the fluffy dog beds I had been using. It is also much easier to take out if needed, and clean than the pile of dog beds. I had looked for a long time for something to accommodate a medium to large sized dog - it seemed like everything was made for toy and small dogs, nothing for a dog that will be 50 pounds when full grown. This one fits perfectly in all directions, and is firm enough to not squish down yet is not hard as a rock either. The one thing that I have had to alter was how it is actually secured to the seat. All there is, is an elastic cord - thin and not tight - that goes around the seat back. When the dog steps on the rear of the cushion, where it meets the seat back, the entire cushion slips forward because the elastic strap is not tight enough or strong enough to keep it snug to the seat. Also, because car seats are all slightly raised where the back of you knees hit, and the cushion is a rectangle without a tapering, it sits lower where the cushion and seat back meet, forming a "V" when the dog in on the cushion. These things are solved in a fairly easy fashion, and the benefits far out-weigh the cons, especially since there is just not that much out there for medium and larger dogs. So, I give it a 4 out of 5, and would recommend it to a friend."..."  Read more

I have two small dogs. The older one doesn't ride well in the car and bothers the driver and the younger dog (who is trained to ride in a harness). I have used cardboard to keep him from distracting the driver and boxes to keep him from not harming the dog in the harness, but these attempts haven't been completely successful. This product works well in keeping the dog from climbing into the front seat of the Ford Focus. It doesn't work quite as well in the Saturn Ion, where the dog can climb around the sides of the seats into the driver's lap. The separation between the dogs is not strong enough to keep him from climbing over to where the younger dog rides, so I am unable to use the harness with the younger dog when both are in the car."..."  Read more

This product provides great protection for my Doberman, as she a large female around 80 lbs. No matter if you have a car,suv or truck this product will provide an amazing level of protection. Also your dog will be able move back and forth without a problem and will not notice a different. It would be advise to train your dog with a hardness when walking them. It much easier to make dog to make a connection between hardnesses and trust me it work.s If something happen to your animal that could have been prevented it would real eat at you. Also the harndess provides a level of protection from your dog jumping out of the vehicles because of excitement. Larger dog should have the XL or X size hardness and make sure to measure and factor in some extra room to have nice fitting hardness. We took delivery of a new Lexus RX with perforated leather seats the day before we went on a one week trip to New England with our dog. Because of unintentional dog damage to the seats of our old car we considered having the car specially ordered with cloth seats. Our dog loves the comfort, its easy to install and best of all, it protects the seats. There's even side flaps which partially protect the door trim. If you have a large dog and are going to leave him alone in the car at times, I'd suggest adding a cargo area barrier and then putting the dog in the cargo area when unattended.
