I bought this sound-unheard because it was the most astheically pleasing bell I could find. We're having a house built and the builder put the doorbell wiring right above the header going down the stairs, so I will always be staring at it when I go down into my living room. The builder installed it, so I don't know how easy installation was. But the bell turned out beautiful in every way. It has a crisp clear "ding-dong" of real bells being struck (not digital or tin-sounding). My mom even asked where I found the pretty sconce to cover the bell. I told her that WAS the doorbell and she about fell over. Plus, you really can't beat the price. I will be replacing the doorbell button- but I don't know if it is one that came with this doorbell or one the builder put up. I bought this transformer to operate 2 doorbells and it does a great job at that. My problem came when installing it. Most doorbell transformers have a round mounting point that attaches through a hole in an electrical box cover. This does not have one. Most transformers have some screw holes on a mounting bracket so you can at least screw it to a stud. This does not have any kind of mounting bracket. I had to sit this on top of my plastic electrical box, which may not be the smartest thing to do. But, there is no way to mount it anywhere. Do the 2 doorbells ring well, now? Oh, yeah! I loved the chimes as soon as they arived, and even more when they were installed. They are simply beautiful looking and of great quality. I would call the color pewter rather than bronze. I was looking for an affordable alternative to those ugly white covers for door bell chimes, found some wood ones at a good price but bad reviews on the sound quality, and chose these after some research. Great design. Nice style cover, blends in with any decor. No overwhelming chimes. Sounds like a doorbell should. If you want a lot of musical chimes to sound when someone rings your bell, this is not for you. If you want an unobtrusive look and a nice, short chime sounding, this is great.
