Wayfairs sent me this product to review and I couldn't be happier! I've had it for about two weeks now and it has become the favorite pot in my kitchen. Of course, it is perfect for boiling pasta or potatoes and the straining lid makes this task so easy, but I used it to make ribs and rice; a dish where the rice normally sticks to the bottom. Not so with this pot! I also used it to make squash and onions, a dish I've made in a cast-iron skillet all my life and a dish that takes constant watching. I was afraid the vents in the lid would let all the juices evaporate and I would have to add more, but it didn't. The result was moist, delicious and the clean-up a breeze. Since it is oven-proof to 400 degrees, I also wanted to try baking in it, so I made a casserole complete with lots of cheese. I hate washing glass casserole dishes, something always sticks and there is lots of soaking and scrubbing involved, ugh! Again, this pot cleaned up in a flash. I anxiously awaited the arrival of my new casserole, hoping to receive it in time for New Year's Eve dinner. When it arrived, I tore open the box excitedly [...] I was amazed at how light it was, and immediately fell in love with the handles. Oh the ease!!I cooked my family recipe in it for New Years..cheesy goodness mixed with noodles and beef. The shape of the casserole was perfect for creating enough food to feed 9 hungry people, and the high sides meant that it did not bubble over all over my oven. I baked my dish for 30 minutes, as the recipe calls for. It baked evenly all around, smooth, and the cheese melted beautifully across the top. I pulled out the first serving, looking for the cheese strings that should have been there, and weren't. I realized at that moment that the only flaw in my beautiful dish was that I would need to heat things just a little longer.All in all, I am incredibly happy with this. It cleans so easily, and so mess free, I am all smiles. This is probably the greatest of oven top to stove to table casseroles. Cast iron ensures the quality of cooking. The stroke of genius is the detachable wooden handle which serves to lift both lid and pot. Designed back in the 60s, it will never ever become redundant. As all cast iron products are, this is a heavy pot, but that is of minor importance. Design and use doesn't get better than Timo Sarpaneva."..."  Read more

This casserole dish is such a versatile piece and can be used for so many recipes. I have cooked vegetables, casseroles, lasagna and more in this dish.
