The vertical rod saves precious closet space and the entire system works perfectly for long, short, and even ankle boots!

Good but not great? There are 12 hooks on but only 6 hangers (not that you really could hang 12 pairs of tall boots because they really need the horizontal space), so even if you wanted to hang shorter shoes, you can't. I think this would have been better if there were hooks on all 4 'sides' of the center horizontal section, because even staggered, 6 pairs of knee high boots being layered on top of each other take up a lot of room. Better than being on the floor of my closet I guess but I thought it would be a bit more streamlined.
