It was exactly as it appeared. The sticks don't light easily and it takes longer to start the fire than other fire starters.

It's very easy to use and mess-free. Add two sticks to your fire pit/fire area, light with a match, and bang boom you're off to toasting marshmallows and cuddling by the fire. From now on I'll take the lazy man's way out. More cost-effective and convenient. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using these to start the fire in the wood stove in my shop. Since I am only out there at random times, usually the previous fire has completely gone out. I take one of these, and split it in to several smaller pieces and build a "pyramid" that I can put other small pieces of wood around. The pyramid starts with one match, and I quickly have a good fire in the stove, so I can go on to other stuff.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got these and opened the box and found what appeared to be dried pine chunks. Didn’ looked like wood and smelled like pine. But when I used them they lit instantly and easily and stayed lit. I used them to start a fire to burn yard debris and has never had such an easy time.
