This isn't made very well. Thin cheap wood. The wood was split and broken on the side and had very thin staples holding it together which were coming out. The center carving wasn't very good, you couldn't tell what it was because it was blurry and didn't stand out. I returned it.

This shelf is a super quality piece. It might only weight 24 pounds but when you get it you can feel the heavy quality in it. Super easy to hang

We pulled this out of the box as pieces fell off. As you can see from the photos, there is a chunk off the front and a chunk off the edge of the shelf and the front of the shelf is pulling away from the side piece, its just stapled together with these skinny staples. the back edge of the shelf is dented on the side. My husband will have to fix and reinforce everything. Very disappointed in the quality and condition of this shelf. Way overpriced. Im using it as a shelf and my husband will engineer it to be stronger. In its present flimsy condition I dont see this being a good choice for a fireplace mantel unless your handy and can beef it up somehow. It is very pretty, just a shame it isnt made better.
