Ordering the 5-Drawer Dresser by East Urban Home ultimately turned out to be a major disappointment, the dresser itself badly manufactured. DO NOT BUY IT! Here’s my experience: We were looking for a reasonably priced diminutive dresser that we needed for extra storage for a narrow space. This one fit the bill: From the pictures, it was nice looking, the right size, at a good price. Knowing it had to be assembled posed no problem since I’ve assembled dozens of furniture pieces in the past without any issues, and actually enjoyed it. Upon ordering the dresser, the disappointment began. It took nearly 1-1/2 months to receive it, and when it was delivered, the shipping box was severely damaged, looked like it had been repeatedly taped several times, and both ends were open. Unboxing, the contents were totally in disarray: All the wood pieces were loosely stacked on each other, marred with damaged corners, without protective wrapping or packing. The hardware, mostly 10-drawer slides, were thrown loosely throughout the box, and were also marring/damaging the wood pieces. Hundreds of nails, screws, bolts of different sizes were packed loosely inside a one large zip-lock bag which had ripped thus many dozens of the nails, etc., were strewn throughout the box (many were lost out of the open ends of the box since later, during assembly, screws were missing). A low-grade styrofoam packing material was used to line the box; however, it had mostly disintegrated turning into snow-like dust that covered all the material and, eventually, my home and me! A mess to clean up! It seemed I had been sold a return item, or there was a total lack of shipping quality control at the manufacturer. I came close to taping the box up and returning it, but given our need, I decided to go ahead and assemble the dresser in hopes that it wouldn’t be too badly marred or damaged, and useable. Suffice to say, the box contained only partial paper instructions (nothing written; just pictures), and they were for a similar dresser but not the one I ordered. It should be noted the instructions had been crumbled into a ball and thrown in the box. I also received a partial packing/parts listing which didn’t include many of the screws, and didn’t list the wood pieces; in fact, after separating the nails, screws, etc., into different piles, I had well over 50-screws and other pieces that had nothing to do with the dresser! In addition, the instructions included two links to online videos showing step-by-step assembly of the dresser; however, they were in an Asian language (I couldn’t find an English version), and they were also for a similar dresser but not the one I ordered. Using the partial instructions and hoping for the best, I assembled the dresser; it was a nightmare. From start to finish, given the lack of instructions and some missing screws (luckily I had similar screws in my toolbox), it took 7-hours to assemble. It should’ve taken 1-2 hours, tops, but a lot of time was spent separating/inventorying the hardware, cleaning off the small pieces of styrofoam that stuck to everything, and interpreting the partial instructions. The wood pieces were supposed to be pre/partially drilled for the screws, but most were barely marked and I had to re-drill just about everything. I easily put together the 5-drawers, but they were different than the instructions and contained side groves for the drawer slides (the instructions showed drawers without the groves). The dresser itself came together fairly easy; however, the legs were not predrilled and very difficult to install. If anything, the inner sides of the dresser were predrilled for the drawer slides (10 total) making them easy to install; however, once the dresser was assembled and the drawers installed, two things were obvious: The predrilled drawer slides were off by an inch leaving a gap at the bottom of the dresser and one drawer overlapping at the top! Also, given the cut groves in each of the drawers, they were at different levels and depths thus none of the drawers fit straight, were at slight angles, and difficult to open/close given the low quality of the slides. The whole thing was just a mess! There was only one way to install the slides given the predrilled holes, and the manufacturer had placed them incorrectly! I was astounded! What a waste of time! The only silver lining was Wayfair’s customer service: They cheerfully and professionally accepted my complaint and agreed to my request for a refund nearly. For that, I’m grateful, and think highly of their service. Concerning the furniture, I’m shocked Wayfair would sell such shoddy furniture or box/ship items in haphazard ways. All in all, this is the WORST online purchasing experience I’ve ever had, the WORST assembly experience in dozens of years, and the WORST piece of furniture I've ever received: Again, DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE or, I dare say, anything else by East Urban Home if this 5-Drawer Dresser is an example of what they produce. This is the epitome of “Buyer Beware.”
