Have been using this composter for several weeks now and there has been zero smell or issue with insects. It's very spacious too, it will take me the rest of the summer to fill it probably. This has worked well for us. Way to out together and produces a great compost. One thing to note is that the compost can rest on the bottom ledge inside which can make it difficult to open the doors. The plastic material that was provided to creates this compost container is very flimsy and weak. When putting together the container the clips that was provided to hold the unit together was a great struggle to apply, you have to use great strength to push them down in place. Once this container is all put together, this container busted at the bottom where the door that slipped up and down, because it was to weak to hold the material inside.
