Fireplace Shelf Mantel

Beautiful finish and very sturdy!

The metal panel looks really cheapfake. Otherwise the quality is good. Very heavy and substantial.

THIS MANTLE CAUSED MUCH MORE STRESS AND ADDITIONAL OUTLAY OF MONEY THAN IT IS WORTH. FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, WAYFAIR OFFERED VERY LITTLE COMPENSATION. FIRST, THE WRONG COLOR WAS SENT. I ORDERED VINTAGE IRON AND RECEIVED SATIN BLACK. I WAS IN THE MIDST OF PREPARING FOR AN IMPORTANT EVENT AT MY BUSINESS SO THERE WAS NO TIME TO REPLACE THE ITEM. I ACCEPTED THE WRONG COLOR AND MOVED FORWARD WITH INSTALLATION. THERE WERE NO PREDRILLED HOLES IN THE PORTION THAT ATTACHES TO THE WALL, SO MY HANDYMAN HAD TO GO PURCHASE A SPECIAL DRILL BIT TO DRILL THROUGH THE STEEL. HE DRILLED 4 HOLES AND ATTACHED THE BACK TO THE WALL. WE LIFTED THE FRONT PORTION, PUT IT IN PLACE AND IMMEDIATELY REALIZED THE RIGHT SIDE WAS SAGGING TERRIBLY. THERE ARE SEVERAL “SPOT WELDS” PLACED BY THE MANUFACTURER AND ONE ON THE RIGHT SIDE WAS ALMOST NON EXISTENT, CAUSING THE WELD TO BREAK. UGH! I NOW HAD THE BACK PORTION ATTACHED TO THE WALL AND IT WAS USELESS. I CONTACTED WAYFAIR AND MY ONLY OPTION WAS TO RETURN THE 72 INCH PIECE OF STEEL. I’D INVESTED FAR TOO MUCH TIME AND MONEY TO JUST RETURN THE MANTLE AND RISK ANOTHER ONE ARRIVING WITH MANUFACTURING DEFECTS. I FOUND A LOCAL COMPANY TO DO THE WELDING REPAIRS. THEY FIXED THE EXISTING PROBLEM AND ‘SHORED UP’ THE REST OF THE INADEQUATE SPOT WELDS. THIS MANUFACTURER NEEDS TO REALIZE THAT THEIR SHODDY CRAFTSMANSHIP IS ACTUALLY CREATING A SERIOUS SAFETY RISK! THE FRONT OF MY STEEL MANTLE WOULD HAVE FALLEN OFF IF ANOTHER SPOT WELD HAD GIVEN WAY. REMEMBER, IT IS STEEL AND VERY HEAVY! THE FINISHED PRODUCT IS FINE BUT REALLY NOTHING SPECIAL. I’D MOVE ON TO THE NEXT MANTLE IF I WERE YOU!

Easy to install. Works great with the colors of the fireplace tile.

Gladly Updated 12/30/22: All was made good with this purchase, as the seller ensured my purchase was made whole in satisfaction, and now I have received the order that I selected!!! BEAUTIFUL!!! As of 10/29/22, Wayfair addressed my concerns; therefore, I am increasing the rating to a three (3) until the replacement arrives. I hope that I can update this review with an elevated rating, as in the past...I had the most wonderful experiences with Wayfair, and hope that this one turns out to be just the same! Stay tuned. John/Wayfair replied to my inquire on September 1st as to IF the Fireplace Mantel was BRASS/GOLD for this item (Satin Black/Matte Black), and told me “YES.” Well…look at the picture…need I say more!!! Wayfair’s online photo clearly shows an obvious brass color as does the uploaded photo from a previous customer. I only inquired because of the listed select finish.

Our house had a typical home store oak mantel and surround. I hated it so I took it down. I got the Black Satin/Distressed Black Copper mantel and I absolutely love it. It was easy to install and looks great above our black gas fireplace. I removed the oak wrapped hearth witha slate top and built a smaller hearth with dark slate on top and sides. It goes so well with the mantel. Thanks Wayfair!
