CraftBud Mechanical Sewing Machine Set For Beginners

This is an adorable and TINY machine. It is very portable and not intimidating. (Very important; I haven't messed with a sewing machine since my mom had me on her lap.) I don't know how good the QR code links are, but the printed instructions worked fairly well for me. (Not sure what thread must go clockwise means, but it's like a USB cable, right? Just flip it till it works...) It arrived pre-loaded with white thread. The tension gizmo had to be loosened, and I did have to flip the lower bobbin a few times because there were 2 false starts where the needle just froze; 1 of them, I had to cut the thread where it'd gotten tight on the lower bobbin and prevented turning. It makes a lot of noise for a small thing! It only has 1 stitch, but I only need 1 stitch for my current project of hemming patches to sew onto my spouse's disreputable jacket. I was able to hand-crank the wheel hope that's okay for it! It helped me get a sense of how to do this at all. Love the needle-guard! Did not work with my batteries, but they could have been bad. (Or the bobbin had snarled its thread) -1 star for not Just Working. I believe this is a decent learners machine. Edit: fixed the punctuation, I hope. Also, I got a $5 store credit for reviewing my purchase.

I wanted this to teach my grandchild how to sew but the foot pedal cord is at least 18 inches too short to reach the floor. What good is a foot pedal if you have to operate it from the table top using your hand - you really need two hands to operate a sewing machine. The take up lever is about 1.5 inches long and made of really flimsy plastic and I could see it breaking. The price was way too much for what is basically a toy.

Purchased for my little who likes to independently learn. Great starter set, have only used once so far so can’t speak to durability
