I think this is a solid piece that fulfill the function for which I got it very well. It is true that, as some reviewer mentioned, there seems to be a "discoloration" to the wood. It appears to be intentional so as to add depth. It did not bother me in the least. I got the 39 inches table. This table is absolutely amazing and comfortable! The only downside is the instructions are poorly written and you definitely need a second person to assist with the final step...other than that the table is very stable and I actually took a nap on it .Well worth the price.
