The best part of moving into a new home is working with a blank canvas when it comes to decorating. I started envisioning different spaces in the house months before the big move. I focused on what my eye was drawn to and realized it was wood textures with hints of industrial and farmhouse accents.
Since we have a very open floor plan, I wanted the dining room to flow beautifully between the kitchen and living room without it looking like a stand-alone room in the house. The use of raw wood furniture was essential in my overall design plan and was ecstatic when I was gifted this beautiful 1900s farmhouse table from my parents. I never like things to appear too shiny so furniture or decor pieces with as little finish as possible are ideal for my home.
The table is our central gathering spot when hosting friends or family and it often plays host to game nights and puzzle making. We added this stunning wine barrel-inspired chandelier to further incorporate the look and feel into the room. It often becomes the focal point of the space because it's so beautiful.

As for the rest of the space, it was all about incorporating our love of wine and cocktails. We already had on hand a vintage wine barrel and wine press that I simply adore. I like to imagine wine barrels could tell stories of the wine they held.
Since we have a rather large bar collection, I wanted something in the dining room that would be both functional and fit the decor of the space. I found this great rustic bar cart complete with two shelves, a bottle opener, and wine glass racks. It works great in the space and since it has wheels, we can easily move it around depending on the type of party we're hosting!

My love of reclaimed wood is exemplified in this California beaches-inspired artwork that hangs above the bar. Though I'm not originally from California, I live very close to Rincon beach so this serves as a personal memento of sorts as well. Overall, I've been very selective when it comes to hanging anything on the wall. For now we'll start with the little touches and work our way from there!
