Mattress Styles

Innerspring

Innerspring mattresses, the most common type, use sets of coiled springs to deliver support and comfort. The higher the count of springs in the mattress, the higher the quality (and most likely, the price).

Best for:

  • Those who are overweight
  • Stomach and back sleepers
  • If you prefer to stay cool (foam and latex mattresses can retain body heat)

Latex Foam

Latex mattresses are made from the sap of rubber trees or a synthetic source. They provide firm, bouncy support.

Best for:

  • Back pain sufferers
  • Stomach sleepers
  • Allergy sufferers

Memory Foam

Made from visco-elastic foam, memory foam mattresses help reduce stress on the body. The higher the density foam, the firmer and the more durable the mattress will be.

Best for:

  • Those with chronic pain or fatigue
  • Side sleepers
  • If your partner tosses and turns

Mattress Features

Pillow Top

A pillow top mattress features extra inches of padding sewn on top. It's ideal for those who prefer a softer mattress that provides support.

Hypoallergenic

Hypoallergenic mattresses, like latex, are best for the allergy-prone as they keep out allergens, like dust mites and mold.

Adjustable

Adjustable mattresses allow for different sleeping and sitting positions.

Tip!

To extend the life of a mattress, rotate it 180 degrees every few months.
