The New Way to Fold (And Store) Your Linens
Putting away laundry has never been easier.
A catchall for bed and bath essentials, the linen closet can become disorganized quickly. Luckily, a few easy tweaks (and some Marie Kondo–inspired folding) can help keep your space tidy and clutter-free. Here are the tricks we swear by.
For Extra Sheet Sets
Start with the fitted sheet: Lay the sheet with fitted corners up, fold horizontally and then lengthwise so that all four corners meet, tuck the corners together, and continue to fold into a square. Then, fold the top sheet to a similar size, and put full sets into their matching pillowcases for storage.
For Bulky Bath Towels
Fold towels in half, then roll and stack them into open-top baskets that can be stored on the floor of the closet. Or, if floor space is limited, switch to lightweight Turkish towels that absorb water just as quickly, but take up less room.
For Seasonal Blankets
During warmer months, swap out heavy winter comforters, quilts, and blankets, and pack them in air-tight vacuum bags. Then, use hangers with clips to store them vertically, out of the way.
