6 Creative Tips on How to Declutter Your Home
It's time to edit!
Clutter can add up in your home so quickly, so it’s important to go through your cabinets and drawers at least twice a year to get rid of excess papers, files, or items that you’re holding onto that you no longer use. As for the cherished items that you use every day, below are our tips for keeping them organized and in reach.
How to Declutter Your Home
1. Invest in Bathroom Storage
The bathroom is an easy place to get cluttered fast. Clothes can start to pile up and everyday essentials can get tossed when you are in a rush. Organizing all of your bathroom toiletries will help you declutter but also help you during your morning routine. Storage containers allow easy access to things that are needed daily. Using clear trays inside of your drawers is also a game changer for organizing small items, such as nail polish or cotton swabs. It allows you to see your must-have items without having to clutter your countertop.
Decluttering your closet with the start of each season will help you get rid of any clothes that torn or not worn, and ultimately help your closet stay free of clothes piles. For linen closets, keep two pairs of sheets, two sets of regular towels, beach towels, and anything else that you personally use daily. Our rule is that if you haven’t used it in over a year, consider donating it because it’s just taking up valuable space in your home. Add in closet hanging organizers to help keep your items organized and clutter-free.
3. Use Baskets & Boxes
For smaller items that you are keeping in your closet or linen closet, use baskets and boxes to keep them organized; especially if you have open shelving in your bathroom. Baskets categorized by hair products, facial products, cleaning solutions, etc. will keep your space organized while looking chic.
Nightstands with large drawers are not only great for decor but are perfect for creating a decluttered bedroom. You can store items that don’t fit in your closet in your nightstand. If you have a vanity or dresser in your bedroom, you can also store miscellaneous items in these pieces of furniture. A large credenza or buffet is great for dishes, glasses, and silverware, but you can also carve out a space for placemats, party decor, and books if you don’t have a bookshelf. Storage ottomans not only provide extra seating for guides but are also a clever way to have extra storage in your home.
5. Add Under-the-Bed Storage
Don’t forget about the precious real estate under your bed. Utilize under-the-bed storage bins for seasonal clothing or larger items you don’t use often, such as ski boots or tall boots. It helps provide more space in your closet for everyday items while keeping seasonal items tucked away, giving your bedroom a clutter free feel.
Drawer inserts and countertop containers will help keep all of your gadgets and tools organized and decluttered. Use drawer inserts to organize flatware, junk drawers, and more. A countertop container is great for keeping your most-used items in reach, so they don’t clutter your drawers.
