The holidays are a time to enjoy friends and family, not sweat over a hot oven. This year look like Ina Garten, but prep like a lazy girl with recipes from the blogger behind Baked Bree. Your guests won't be able to tell that these recipes are as simple as one-two-three. Shhh, it'll be our little secret!
1. Marinated Olives and Feta on Toasted Lavash
Ingredients:
1 cup marinated olives
Feta block
Whole wheat lavash
Directions:
Buy pitted olives that have been marinated in oil as this will flavor your feta. Finely chop the olives and toss into a bowl. Cut the feta into small cubes, and add to the olives. Mix well. Cover and chill until ready to use. Cut lavash into triangles and toast before serving.
Ingredients:
1 box sea salt crackers
1 container garlic and herb cheese spread
1 package prosciutto
Directions:
Spread garlic-herb cheese on the surface of a cracker. Top with a half of a slice of prosciutto. Bask in your culinary prowess.
Ingredients:
1 package bacon
2 cans whole water chestnuts
1/2 cup brown sugar
Directions: Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Slice the package of bacon in half, easily cutting all the bacon at once. Roll a piece of bacon around a water chestnut, and secure with a toothpick. Sprinkle brown sugar liberally over the bacon. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes or until the bacon is cooked thoroughly and the sugar has caramelized.
Tip! Purchase a disposable foil pans for easy clean up, because you'll definitely want to make two batches of these. Umm, bacon!
Ingredients:
1 box puff pastry, thawed
1/2 block cream cheese
1/4 cup red pepper jelly
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Unroll the puff pastry and cut into squares, approximately 2 inches wide. Put about a teaspoon of cream cheese in the center. Top with 1/2 teaspoon pepper jelly. Fold sides up to touch the center. Bake for 15 to 20 minute, or until golden and puffed.
Ingredients:
Crostini crackers
Marinated sun-dried tomatoes
Small mozzarella balls (also called bocconcini)
Basil (optional fourth ingredient)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cut tomatoes into strips. Cut bocconcini in half. Top a crostini with tomatoes and a piece of cheese. Bake for about 8 to 10 minutes or until the cheese has melted. Sprinkle with chopped basil to up your classy points by about a million.
