The solid rubber backing keeps the mat firmly in place and anything that drips on it is easily cleaned up, which is great for where I placed it, in front of the sink. A lovely design just right for our comfortable, busy kitchen! the 2' x 6' size covers the floor in front of our sink and dishwasher, catching small drips of water and remaining comfortable under foot. Its very low profile helps avoid stumbles and its rubbery backing keeps it from slipping (although it can gradually move slightly out of place).
