Stair treads are easy to install, however you need to use double sided carpet tape to hold them and place and avoid slips and falls. We installed these for our common stairway that is used by tenants instead of a runner because you can replace a single tread that is damaged or dirty easier than you can repair a damaged stair runner. We purchased two different widths because we have both rectangular and triangular stairs. The triangular stairs are not as wide as the rectangular stairs. The different widths work. We did not need to cut or trim. So far it has been easy to clean the treads and the stairs. Love the look and feel of these stair tread mats but wish they didnt move around as much as they do. I bought these because my dog is aging and keeps sliding and slipping as she goes up and down the stairs. These carpet treads help her with her grip and are particularly helpful when it is raining. However, when our parents come over we remove them because they do slide around and I would hate for them to slip and fall. I love these for foot comfort. I just wish they were as deep as my first set I purchased from Wayfair (30"x 9 1/2"). These are only 8" deep. These look nice and definitely help you feel more secure coming down the steps. At night we don’t have a hall light here currently and the help keep me from slipping. They are easy to install and sticky but can be adjusted at least once if you need to adjust them.
