Upon delivery, I noticed that the box was severely damaged and the mantel was exposed and damaged due to the density of cheap-bead styrofoam packaging. I'm currently working with Wayfair but have yet to receive communication from the manufacturer. After completely unboxing, I was pretty disappointed. The mantel is made with some nice white oak boards, covered with oak half-dowels reeds, and comes with a poplar French cleat. The reeds are cut from singular pieces of oak that run about 1 3/8" wide. Unfortunately, you see EVERY brad nail hole in each reed, the wood putty filler, and exposed glue in certain areas. What is even more frustrating is you see the uneven orbital sander marks they used to run over only the center, leaving a wavy sand line across the entire mantel. If I were to make a suggestion, I would use a slightly darker shade of wood putty filler, and do an even sanding over the entire mantle.

Holy Moly this mantle is so BEAUTIFUL! I couldn't believe how well it's made. How stunning the texture is and what a statement it has made in our living room. Unfortunately, we are not done with all the built-in updates to the space but here is the mantle installed with the new fireplace trim and paint color. I ordered the unfinished mantle and plan to seal it's natural beauty. Highly recommend this mantle. Well worth the money. You won't be disappointed.
