This contemporary area rug constitutes an intriguing, vibrant composition. It comprises just two colors, beige and dark brown – such an unobtrusive color palette helps to maintain the balance of the Samarkand carpet because the pattern is truly electrifying. The geometric design, formed of numerous lines and crosses, resembles slightly shifted diamonds – it may evoke connotations with Swedish aesthetics. However, just two hues are typical of Moroccan Beni Ourain rugs, so the inspiration for this modern rug has been drawn from many cultures and traditions of weaving craft. This modern carpet texture, hand-made of the best quality wool, will be a beautiful, enlivening touch to any interior, from classic to modern. Doris Leslie Blau carries an exceptional collection of original modern rugs in many styles and materials. Contemporary hand-made rugs are a bridge throughout history, they are the fruit of the constant evolution of the weaving craft that has accompanied men since the dawn of civilization.
