This lovely runner, although made in the 21st century, stays in the spirit of traditional Samarkand creations. However, it is quite unusual even for the multi-cultural style of the oasis town. Its field is divided into separate aisles, each bearing a different design. Curvilinear architectural forms, flower bouquets, and flower heads as well as short sections of fret patterns are executed in a pronounced chocolate brown hue against the sandy beige background. An attentive onlooker may spot barely visible, fading motifs in pale gray which repeat their dark brown predecessors. This video variety of motifs is masterfully hand-crafted of the finest wool in accordance with old and refined weaving techniques by a skilled artisan. Only such thorough making may ensure that the rug will not only be unique but most importantly durable, ready to serve its future owners for generations without any signs of blemish. Runners are perfect for staircases, corridors, and halls, where they define the space and warm up the atmosphere. This fragment Samarkand-inspired rug will surely bring some of its recherché charms into any contemporary abode.
