This is likely not what many people are using this skate for, but were doing it to help socialize our wonderful new dog with my two cats, one of them is not very dog savvy. When we tried to do this with a normal baby gate, she kept trying to launch herself over it so of course, he wanted to chase her. This is great. I was looking for a permanent solution to keep the dog from the front door and a way to separate the dogs from my niece when she visits. This is perfect fix. I do love the design of this gate. It’s so tall that my kitties can’t go over, around, through, or under. I even like the way it opens to let me go through, without having to negotiate a bottom rail to trip on. It locks securely and was easily assembled and carefully packed. It’s attractive and exceptionally useful. My only concerns: My doorway was not true. It apparently is a few millimeters wider near the top than bottom, so the center doesn’t meet the same way in the top as bottom. This is not the fault of the gate, so I did not deduct a star. My other concern is that there’s a lot of plastic parts. I wish all the components were made of metal. This gap will close properly as you tighten the adjuster knobs. The adjuster knobs are designed to control the entire setup of the gate once the adjuster bolts and extensions are set in place. This is part of the overall design of the tension-mount gate.

I love this gate! I wanted my Great Dane to have access to my entire wrap around porch when I wasn't home for security and space to move around without leaving our yard. I needed a gate that looked good, was easy to install, convenient, and could be removed when needed without any signs it was ever there. This gate is perfect.
