I’ve tried plastic kitty litter boxes, even the ones with the pellets and the pads, and I’m here to tell you that they all absorb the urine odor after a time no matter how diligent you are with cleaning. Plastic is porous and the ammonia smell sinks into that plastic. The only way to go is a stainless steel litter box. I have two cats and this box seems to be a nice size for them. They are not Maine Coons! You would need a bigger size for Maine Coons. My little house cats love this box but only without the lid., it does come with one but they seem to shy away from a box with a lid.
