There are two doors, one on top and one in front. The front door works both ways, the top door opens outwards. I did have to make sure the cover was snapped together properly so the front door didn't catch. The front is hinged to lift up further if needed for cleaning. I really appreciate the slots in the front of the box to catch litter back into the pan. It works well in conjunction with the stool to help prevent litter being scattered on the floor. I also like the scent absorber in the top. The holder for it will accommodate other scent absorbers when it needs to be replaced. It also comes with a stainless steel scoop that can be conveniently hung on the side of the pan. You do have to put it together when it comes in. Instructions are included. They are easy enough to understand and assembly is pretty straightforward. The cover is two parts that snap together with plastic tabs. Then the cover goes on the stainless steel pan and snaps on with side latches. You can undo the latches to take the top off if needed. This litter box is a great improvement looks wise. It is sleek and modern. However, I haven’t completely set it up yet and will have to do some troubleshooting to finish but I know I will get it figured out. The main reason I wanted a new box is because my setup was really ugly with a black mat full of loose litter the cats track out. I don’t know how effective the new box will be with the added little litter piece that the cats are supposed to walk across to get in and out. I may have to remove that part and put the ugly black mat back down. I am happy with the metal pan because I think it will help control odor better. Our large size cat, as well as a smaller one, is enjoying her new litter box. It came well packaged and was easy to put together. They were a bit, unsure about stepping on the litter catcher entrance to the box, but we’re OK once they got used to it. It is easy to clean with the lift up top and included pooper scooper.
