I installed this on a screen door that had a thin metal section at the bottom. It was either this, or a very thick doggie door, which wouldn't have worked well on the thin metal. It ended up working great, but some modifications were required. If you put it on anything other than a screen, it pays to spend some time before installing it to think about what modifications may be necessary. For instance, there are some interlocking plastic pieces that work great to hold it securely to a screen, but have to come off if you're putting it on a thin solid surface. Installation would have been very quick and easy if I had been able to put it directly on a screen, but it still worked out great for my needs. I highly recommend this door!. Phillip. Pensacola, FL.
