June 9, 2026 update: it's absolutely not leather but it is wearing fine. I took the made-to-be-removed inserts out, threw it in the bathtub with laundry soap and washed the soft inside fabric and it took vigorous scrubbing very well. Still recommend this seat. This is good quality and works well for my CAT. Easy to install. It didnt quite set on the seat (strap not quite long enough over top of seat) but I just have a pillow underneath, no problem. It lifts him up higher to watch out the window. I havent had it long enough to have to wash it, so cant say how that will go. Its nice and thick and looks to be very comfy.
