My cat and I absolutely love this box! He is a 15 lbs boy so he needs his box to be large, especially because he's a "long" kitty rather than a chubby one. This one now is his favorite box and I think the reason is because it's open-top. At first I wasn't sure I wanted to see his business while walking past it, and that it would be so stinky because it's open. But after a month of testing it, it actually isn't bad at all. The stainless steel doesn't trap oders almost at all! Once I clean his mess, it's completely gone. No scratched floor, no plastic that holds on to any stinky smell, and it doesn't stain at all. Cleaning it is a breeze and nothing sticks to the bottom that requires scraping. Also I was worried that urine would leak out from the area where the top half connects with the base bin, but so far no issues. Unless your kitty sprays too high, I’m thinking this should work perfectly. It comes with its own scoop that can be hung to the side wall of the box as shown in the picture (although it isn't my preferred scooper as I like metal ones better). Love the size and wedge shape. Lasts forever, just pricey. Only corner box that fits in our laundry room and we can still open the dryer because the curved edge doesn't block it. We had the top entry for years and it holds up super well with occasional deep cleaning. Our cats are getting older, so we decided to try the front entry. A bit more litter gets on the floor with the front entry because our babies get serious about burying their treasure, but a litter trap mat will solve that issue. Once the cat has made his business inside, there are four steps to follow: 1.Lift the perforated base. 2.Sift the sand, letting it slide down into the tray, making sure it separates from the dirty one. 3.Throw away the dirty, thickened sand left on the sieve. 4.Integrate new clean litter into the still usable sand that remains in the standard base. In a few moves the work is done! For the correct functioning of the Ariel sieving system, we recommend to use fine-grained litters like sand. Do not use coarse-grained gel litter or chipboards.
