Beautiful, roomy mailbox. Easy enough to install if you don't want to hire a professional installer (you will need to go to a lumber yard and get some treated wood). One thing I like is that the metal construction means that it won't be destroyed when the mail carrier tries to shove a large package in it that really belongs on your front step (that happened with my old plastic mailbox, which is why I had to buy a new one). Getting the box customized was a seamless process. Two downsides that kept this from being a 5-star review: 1. You used to be able to screw the address plates into the box. Now, they use double-sided tape. That's disappointing. 2. It requires maintenance. You need to apply car wax or something similar every few months. There are some Whitehall mailboxes in my neighborhood that have visible signs of rust, and some of the mailboxes are not even that old. The lifetime warranty does not cover "natural aging during normal use." It only includes defects in workmanship. In fact, here is the Limitations section of the warranty, for your reference: Damage resulting from misuse, negligence, accidents, improper mounting, salts, chemicals, road debris, vandals, and exposure to extreme environmental conditions such as high heat, extreme cold, high salt air content, or from natural aging during normal use. I don't think that Whitehall is trying to do anything sneaky with their lifetime warranty, but this is just a cautionary heads up that if you don't maintain your mailbox, you could run into trouble and Whitehall will not support you on it.

Update: After years of use, this is still going strong and I changed it to 5 stars. Very worth it. Everything in stores is over-priced and overly complicated with locks, etc. I just wanted a SIMPLE, PLAIN, BLACK mailbox that can hold mail and magazines and this is the ONLY one I found! It cost more than I wanted to pay, but it's still superior to the stuff out there in retail places. It was mounted without problem, has a smooth exterior and is quite roomy inside. If it'd been lower priced, it would've been perfect--ie: 5 stars. PROS: Price, design, size, finish, no complicated lock systems CONS: Pricier than I would've preferred; could be a bit longer for long magazines

I was excited to get this product to test as we get alot of packages. It's nice having somewhere for them to go so it's not so noticeable on the front porch from people walking by since package theft is getting worse. It is also nice that the packages don't get wet. We have a covered porch but with a heavy rain or snowstorm it comes up on the porch & sometimes the delivery person doesn't put them far enough back. The design looks nice on the porch so that is a plus. The only down side is that it is light but I think it would be ok on the porch and the other issue, which might have only been ours, is there is a sharp piece on the handle on the lid that cuts your hand. Other than that we are happy to have something to finally protect our deliveries.

This mailbox is awesome with one exception. The small metal plate which is mounted on the door to magnetically latch the door to the box is poorly designed. When I closed the box only twice the magnet pulled the metal plate out of the door and it wouldn't stay closed. The plate has 4 burred edges which are supports to grip the ridges in the door and keep the door latched. I called and reported the failure and they sent a new door with a new plate installed, however the door arrived warped and was unusable. I called again and a second door is on the way. This is a great looking box but it needs a better latching mechanism. Thank you.

To start; to me, a mailbox is a mailbox but to my wife it is an important part of the "visual presentation" of our home as seen from the street. When she 1st selected the "Hummingbird in White" I agreed that it was "Nice" but too expensive. We agreed to wait for a while to see if it would go on sale. As soon as it did, we "decided to take a chance" and ordered it. It arrived a week ago and as soon as it came out of the box my wife was "wow, it's beautiful, it's gorgeous". When my wife is very, very pleased - then I'm a happy man! After I installed the box on the front of our home the presentation was nothing short of, as my wife first said: beautiful & gorgeous. In that moment, the product won me over as well. It was exactly as described. We are extremely happy with everything about it: the price, the quality of the product, the shipping efficiency and the professionalism of the Wayfair staff throughout. 5 Stars for sure!

Construction is very solid. Installation could have been a bit simpler and some have complained that you can't really screw in the lower of the three attach points because it is not directly accessible. But I realized that you can unscrew the back plate from the body and have full access to all three attach points. After the back plate is attached to the wall, then screw the body back onto the back plate and you're good to go. One thing that could have been a show stopper for me is that the lid some times didn't close cleanly. But I addressed that but unscrewing the lid and adding a small washer (between the lid and the body) onto the each of the two screws that mount the lid . This kept the lid from sliding to one side or the other where the body of the mailbox otherwise interfered with the lid fully closing. So yes, this sturdy and attractive product works well for me (4 stars) but there are some issues that complicated things a bit. Having screw fasteners helped me to overcome those issues however.

This mail box looks AWESOME on my house. I had a brass envelope-like mail box attached to the house to the right of the front door for years. The finish had become so pitted (no doubt by air pollutants, bird drive-by droppings and the like) that it was time for a replacement. I have a clapboard farm house that is well over 100 years old and while I loved the brass mailbox, it really wasn't the perfect fit. I turned to Wayfair for a replacement since I have had such tremendous luck with so many purchases for my home via Wayfair. I took a gamble on this fabulous, old fashioned mailbox as a replacement. Really funky. And does it look awesome on my house! It adds so much charm and faux authenticity that you'd think it had been there for the whole 100 + and that I had paid a fortune for it.

I ordered in white & it is absolutely beautiful & well-built & larger than my previous mailbox....perfect size. It took 3 tries to get a good one but am very happy with product & Wayfair’s customer service. All 3 were double boxed & arrived in great shape but the 1st 2 had manufacturing defects so not Wayfair’s fault at all. Both times Wayfair’s customer service reps were excellent & very apologetic for the defects & after the 2nd offered to give me my money back but had looked long & hard for this mailbox & really wanted this one. So thankful that I did bc this one is perfect! Will definitely order from Wayfair again. My daughter just ordered a coffee table from them & is extremely happy with her purchase. In fact she is about to order 2 lamps from them also. Cannot say enough good things about Wayfair’s customer service; possibly the best I’ve ever dealt with, truly amazing!

I found this mailbox online a long while ago as a separate purchase. It was a bit pricey for me, so I waited. Luckily I came across it again with the post included at very close to the same price as I would have originally had to pay for the box itself. LOVE THIS MAILBOX! It is true to the color and the pattern is beautiful. Very sturdy and heavy. The magnet that holds the door closed is a bit strong and makes it a bit difficult to open the door - but this is not necessarily a bad thing. Would highly recommend this box and the post combination. Very classy looking and fun too!

we needed a new mailbox after years of bright HOT sunshine on the old mailbox. We bought this mailbox in WHITE but the pictures shows black. It was so pleasing to the eyes that we bought another mailbox for our new home we are building. We did not want a mailbox with a slot for the news paper because wasp and hornets nest in that cubbyhole. We did not want a concrete base or a horse or rooster shape, we just wanted a simple but strong mailbox. This is a plastic mailbox. We pull a wood 4 x 4 into the ground at the proper depth, dropped this mailbox over it. shot some screws into the wood through the thickened plastic area and put some house numbers on the sides and we are in business This recent purchase is our second and we recommend this product.

So what I love about this is the large capacity of the mailbox. I also love that it is plastic and was fairly easy to put together.But I think there should be plastic covers or buttons to cover up the screw heads that will attach it to the 4x4 post. We have to remove our old mailbox first and are hoping that the 4x4 is still in good shape. The flag on this mailbox is somewhat tight again the mailbox and I can see that it already rubbed a little. I can be careful putting it up. But the mail carrier may not be careful putting it down. With my reward points, I got a really good deal. So Im thrilled with the price. Also, I love that there is a magnet keeping the door shut. But its a little too strong. I hope my mail carrier doesnt get frustrated trying to open it. Hopefully this will last bad long as my prior mailbox..15 years.

This Architectural Mailboxes - Gentry Black, Large, Plastic, All-in-One Mailbox and Post Combo is amazing ! It was so easy to install it only took my other half 10 mins. Seriously. That easy. He used the pre existing post which cut down a few mins. I love how it’s made of durable plastic. No worrying about it rusting especially with all the rain we have. Also love that I can use it for getting my newspaper as well which means we were able to take down that ugly paper box ! But my absolute fave? Being able to check the mail from front or back ! I have 2 younger kids who love to check the mail and I get nervous with them standing on the road. This solves that problem ! Also I’m sure my mail man is going to love this as well … it’s a larger box than my old mail box! Which means it can fit more/larger packages. If you buy this you won’t be disappointed

My post and mailbox look just as good “in person” as it looks on line. I engaged a local handyman to install my post and box as I do not have know-how. He said it was easy to do and installed it quickly. We did slide the post over a 4x4 wooden post for extra stability and security. All I can say it looks great, it is a thousand times better than my old mailbox and I definitely like the hanging number plate for the house address. The numbers are large and eminently visible. The only question now is, will it stand the test of time. At this moment I believe so as the parts all seemed rather sturdy. I definitely recommend for stylishness, enhanced curb appeal and ease of installation.

This mailbox is beautiful. I love that it locks and it's a nice size. The only complaint is that the mail flap is very stiff, so when the mail carrier puts mail in it, it closes over the mail so the mail doesn't fall all the way down into the mailbox. I hope this will loosen up over time, but if security is a concern, you might want to go with another design. This mailbox is just as big and nice as the product description states it will be. It will work perfect at our rural home in the country. The main reason for my comments are to complement the sales agent that took my call in Utah. I had read the posted reviews and several individuals referenced the lack of packing materials for this product which had resulted in unnecessary dents. The reviews were too similar to just be a fluke. So I explained my concerns to the sales agent and she assured me she would notify shipping of my concerns once the PO was completed. I am grateful to share that she did just as she said she would. The mailbox was shipped in a very sturdy cardboard box and all precautions were taken to ensure it arrived in central Louisiana without any dents or damage. I appreciate WAYFAIR listening to the customer and taking the action needed to correct a preventable problem. I don't think I can ask for any more than that. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really enjoyed having this drop box for a few different reasons. I am a homeowner who sublets a few rooms in my house to medical students, having this drop box mounted in my garage has made it so easy for my renters to leave their payments in the drop box for me whenever rent is due. The paint is a beautiful color and matches the paint in my garage. The only reason why I knocked it down a star is because it was so hard for me to retrieve the key to open the mail box. The key is attached inside but its locked, so if you don't know how to retrieve it like I did you are going to waste about 20 min of your life haha. I had to ask my husband for help once I gave up on trying. He did retrieve the key quite easily to retrieve it. Maybe it was just operator error? Once you open the mailbox there you find all the nuts and bolts to hang your mailbox. Ours didn't come with any instructions on how to do it, but my husband managed to set it up and only took him about 10 minutes. This is really heavy by the way! Very solid piece and made of metal. Overall I love it and it has made our renters lives so much easier with an option of just dropping in their rent and my husband and I are the only ones with a key so its very safe to have.

The mailbox came as ordered and was very well packaged. Assembly was fairly simple, along side a shovel or post hole diggers just some basic tools I.e. screwdriver, players and a adjustable wrench was all that was needed. Oh.. don’t forget most importantly the level. (concrete to set the pole was highly recommended) The size of the mailbox is slightly larger than the average ones that I’ve looked at in some of the local stores. But that was a plus. Metal design was a must as we have purchased magnetic covers to change for different seasons and occasions. The door is is a durable hard plastic and has a strong magnetic latch. The pole was a two piece powder coated metal connection that used screws which were concealed by the bottom decorative base. The hardware that was used for the mailbox base plate itself was also concealed with a hard plastic upper decorative covering. Overall we love the look. It was just enough to stand out but not overdid. We also have ordered a magnetic house number which we can move when needed. We’re very satisfied with the way it turned out, and have gotten several comments and thumbs up from the neighbors. Would highly recommend.

It’s a basic mailbox but it looks really nice. The material of the mailbox is good quality and sturdy too. The installation was straightforward and the box includes a paper to help locate the correct placement for the drill holes. Once those are done, it’s simple to use the provided hardware to mount the mailbox in place. Overall it’s a nice mailbox that looks good and was easy to install.

We do a lot of online shopping and receive many small to mid-sized packages. This large capacity mailbox is USPS approved but MUCH larger than boxes made since 1914, as it is a newly approved size. Besides being roomy, it is an attractive oil rubbed bronze with nickel colored flag and handle. The magnetic closure keeps the lid tight, and the flag is sturdy and does not slip out of position. My current box flag sags and will not stay in the correct place. I can't wait to get this erected and into use. It will save the postal workers walking to my front door once or twice a week. I'm sure they will love it, too! The steel construction is unusual and the price is better than many aluminum designs that were smaller. I am pleased!

Very impressed with quality , love the bright red color. Installed mailbox in rural row of mailboxes ,unfortunately not on post individually .I simply nailed small piece 2x6 wood the size of my box (under it not seen ) to row. Place your box on top of wood then nail or screw your box through holes provided to anchor down.(measured mailbox by sitting box on board drew line ,cut able to still open lid as per instructions) then nail or screw your box through holes to anchor down.I found no instruction on how post mailbox in my row situation so I included to assist any other ladies wanting color change ,this girl did !
