Small enough to strap under a backpack lid, long enough to stretch out on. The SOLAIR is the Nomic pad for trips where weight and space count: it rolls into its own stuff sack at about 1.4 pounds and fills in camp with a pump built into the foot, so there's no separate pump to carry. Filled, it measures 77 by 23 inches and about 2 inches thick, with a 5 inch pillow at the head end and diamond-shaped air cells across the body. The shell is nylon laminated with TPU, so it handles damp tent floors and wipes clean after a trip. Filling it: close the valve on the pillow and open the valve at the foot. Cover the foot valve with your foot and press down, lift your foot so the pump refills, and repeat until the pad is firm, then cap the valve. Keeping the valve covered on every press sends the air into the pad instead of back out. Air cools after dark and any air pad softens a little with it, so a few presses at bedtime keep it firm until morning. Packing up: open the valve on the pillow, roll the pad toward it to push the air out, close the valve and slide the pad into its sack. Taking care of it: keep it on a tent floor, cot or ground sheet, away from campfire sparks, and store it unrolled with a valve open between trips. At about 2 inches thick, the SOLAIR suits back and stomach sleepers; side sleepers who want more cushion will be happier on the 4 inch Lumin AIR.
