Lights can be controlled by an automatic timer + photocell combo that turns on at dusk and can be set for 4hr, 6hr, or 8hr periods, and by an On/Off switch.

This timer is much better than the original one I had installed. It's easier to set and allows 2 (on and off) options so you can set it for early morning and night. Came very nicely packed and the build quality is very good. I did not want a plastic outer body because had an old one break apart, and this is quite sturdy.
