It's a VERY pretty fan. The blades are a very light gray wash look - high end. I got the Nickel finish motor. On/off via light switch and then the remote controls everything. Most fans I run at speed 1 for sleeping and that creates some air movement. But this fan doesn't push a lot of air, so i have to use speed 2 or 3 to get the same effect. This is in a guest room, which is rarely used, so that's fine for my needs. But if you need a fan that REALLY creates a breeze in a room, this is NOT the one. (Minus a star for that).. Tamara954. My particular fan was incredibly off balance and required weight placement to get it mostly balanced. Fans with only three blades tend to do this more than others as there isn’t a direct counterbalance. I also was not able to get the dimming function to work via the remote. We purchased this ceiling fan to replace a dated one that didn’t really go with our new bedroom set. The fan works very well and is virtually silent when running. The shape of these blades really moves the air well. The installation was a bit tricky as the directions aren’t very good so I would recommend hiring a licensed electrician if you are not skilled at diy electrical work. It was not very difficult to install on our back porch the height and space we had was restricted so we had to modify the drop down tube by cutting it off and redrilling the bolt holes.
