It puts you in the mind of attaching hooks to a Christmas ornament. You have to be very careful when installing not to risk dropping and breaking one. The metal is gold with clear plastic circles pieces inside the gold circles. The light is pretty and I have matching candle sticks. The directions are easy to read. I have the light in my entryway and now it a nice and bright. The light can go in any room in your home. I would recommend getting this light if you like a bright area light.
