Needed a chain-mounted system to adjust height when needed (will have a rolling island underneath); by using 2 small carabiners to connect the light to the ceiling plate (bypassing the chain as shown), I can safely walk under the light without hitting my head! Love the overall look of the light. The shades are quite a bit lighter than what is pictured. We ordered the plated smoke and looks like we got clear. I had not reached out to try and get an exchange for the shades since it took a while between my order and the builders installing the light. Will be reaching out for exchange options now. Will update once it's resolved. UPDATE: As always, Wayfair was great in the resolution of the different shades. Our island is small - 48 inches. but my husband has macular degeneration and the light is not bright enough for him.
