These solar lights do not give off quite the same glow as shown in the pictures. The pictures make it look like a pattern of light but really it's just a solid circle of light. There were eight lights in the pack and putting them together was easy. You can stick them in the ground on mount them on a wall. This is our second purchase of these lights. We have them hanging all along our fence and they look beautiful. We bounce our first set five years ago. They have weathered the hot Texas sun and our winters with some freezing temperatures. Most of the first set still work perfectly. These were to replace a few that were broken over time.
