The solar lamp will automatically light up when it is dark (if it is daytime, the lamp can also be lit by covering the solar panel)

These are low voltage so they dont have much light output, however, because of the cut put design they do cast an interesting light pattern on the sidewalk. we initially bought two of these to put in our raised garden bed to see if it scared away critters who eat our vegetables at night. After we saw them light up we bought two more; then two more; then two more for some grow bags for a total of eight. What a light show! AND no more vegetables eaten by critters overnight.
