Definitely larger than I imagined - in a good way! Duh, it says 8", but I just imagined it as the standard small size. Bottom line... pleasant surprise and I love it! Purchased this as an open box. Arrived the next day in excellent condition and it works very well in our hallway. Clean, simple structure, adding interest without overwhelming the entryway. 4 star rating resulted from 2 things installation instructions indicated wrong holes in the grid attachment, once we sorted this, the installation was quite simple. secondly the box was packed full of styrofoam peanuts.
